Baby Newsletter Week 18

Below is a copy of one of the weekly newsletters my friend, Heather, sent to our friends at work during my pregnancy as the BPA (Baby Personal Assistant):

Hello Babylovers! This week we are a…. Pepper!

Baby Melmel:
-baby is totally flexing his guns this week!
-baby's blood vessels are visible through its think skin
-baby's ears are finally in the right place! Phew, no elf ears… but then again Erika doesn't know what an elf is
-whether its a boy or a girl… their "goodies" are starting to form!

Mama Melmel:
-IS HUNGRY!!! Expect an increase in appetite! Mama should be eating lots of meals and snacks that are rich in nutrients and not empty calories!
-Stretchy pants will now be all the rage! Don't forget a new moomoo or two! Mama melmel is growing!
-Her cardiovascular system is undergoing some dramatic changes and her blood pressure is down- so no springing around for mama, she'll get light headed
-Side sleeping is becoming the norm now. We don't want to smush the little bellybean! Also, we don't Erika to decrease the blood return to her heart and die.

YOLO!!!

Sincerely,

Heather the official BPA

Baby Newsletter Week 17

Below is a copy of one of the weekly newsletters my friend, Heather, sent to our friends at work during my pregnancy as the BPA (Baby Personal Assistant):

Hello Baby Scouts! We are at week 17!!

Baby Mellesaurus:
-Baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone
-Baby is sweaty (so is Erika!) and its sweat glands are starting to develop

Mama Mellesaurus:
-Erika's center of gravity is slowly starting to change and she may be unsteady on her feet! (or you can see if a marshmallow will begin to orbit around her!)
-She needs to avoid all activities that may have a high risk of falling- I guess volleyball is out!
-Low-heeled shoes are a must now a days!
-Her eyes are also becoming drier… so don't look to her for any tears!

Dreaming during Pregnancy:
Many women report that their dream life shifts into high gear during pregnancy. Interestingly, during the second and third trimesters, you spend less sleep time in rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, the cycle in which most dreams occur. It's probably at least in part because you may be interrupting a dream-filled cycle when you wake up to pee, cope with heartburn, leg cramps, restless legs, or a backache, or to shift to a more comfortable position. Waking up during REM sleep makes you more likely to remember your dreams.

Sincerely,

Heather, the official BPA

Baby Newsletter Week 16

Below is a copy of one of the weekly newsletters my friend, Heather, sent to our friends at work during my pregnancy as the BPA (Baby Personal Assistant):

Hello Baby Scouts! We are at week 16!!

Baby Melleonator:
-Legs are more developed
-Head is more erect
-Eyes are moving closer to the front of its head
-Its ears are almost where they are supposed to be!!!
-The patterning of its scalp has begun… we can't see the hair just yet, but we're hoping there won't be receding hairline!
-There are toenails!
-Its little heart is beating 25 quarts of blood each day

Mama Melleonator:
-Getting bigger! (they had fancier terms, but for the sake of the men on this email I will leave out all of the exact details)
-Feeling better- less nausea, fewer mood swings (thoughts Brent?), and "glowing"skin, seriously guys you have to wear sunglasses to look at her!

Coming soon:
-Baby movements!!! Women can feel their baby move as early as 16 weeks! However for some it takes longer than 18. Erika may be confused since its her first child, but the earliest movements may feel like little flutters, gas bubbles, or popcorn popping! So come on over and feel Erika's belly! Music and flashlight shining are allowed.

Sincerely,

Heather, the official BPA

Were You Saying Hello?

I really can't be sure, and the doctor told me that it might not be the case, but I think I felt you baby. It was at 2:30 in the morning, and truthfully I was going to the bathroom when I felt four little bubbles pop in succession right below my belly button.

Sure, it could have been gas or some other anomaly, but I can't help but think it was you.

Of all the milestones in this pregnancy, I'm most looking forward to being able to feel you wiggle and squirm inside of me. When I first found out I was pregnant, I loved the feeling of having a special secret that was just between you, me, and your dad - the fact that you were going to be joining our family. And now that friends and family are in on this secret - as well as perfect strangers, as my belly is rounding out nicely - it'll be nice to have another one. And this one will be between just me and you.

So if you were saying hello that night in the wee hours of the morning, let your mama know and say hello again.

Baby Newsletter Week 15

Below is a copy of one of the weekly newsletters my friend, Heather, sent to our friends at work during my pregnancy as the BPA (Baby Personal Assistant):

Hello Baby Scouts! We are at week 15!!! Or maybe 16… Erika can't remember!

Baby Update:
-Baby is moving amniotic fluid through its nose and upper respiratory tract- helping its primitive air sacs in its lungs develop
-Baby can move all of its joints and limbs
-Although baby's eyes are still fused, it can sense light… so I'll be sticking a flashlight to Erika's belly later today!
-Baby is forming taste buds! Looks like baby is going to like Jimmy Johns!

Erika Update:
-Her nose may be stuffed up - well it is b/c she's been sneezing all morning… thanks to hormones and increased blood flow to your mucous membranes
-Some pregos also suffer nosebleeds - she hasn't had one yet, but be on the lookout

This week's activity:
-Talk to the baby!!! If you want the baby to know your voice, come on over and start talking to it! :-)

Sincerely,
Heather the BPA
